About the Hudson Valley Chapter
Since 1994, local efforts have placed approximately 100,000 new books in the hands of children throughout our region. The ability to share our love of reading with so many people brings us great joy. Our work is affirmed by the charming letters and drawings which we receive from grateful kids and adults.

Acknowledgements
The gracious support of the Wallkill Central School District has been a mainstay during our tenure. The following community partners have donated storage space and logistical resources: Alos Micrographics Corporation, Safeway Storage of Walden, and Dolan's Orchards. Many individuals representing our recipient agencies and schools have given considerable time and effort to deliver books to their final destinations. We hereby express our appreciation to all those who assist in our mission.

About the Directors
Ellen Rubin has been a Library/Media Specialist with the Wallkill School District for 19 years. She has tirelessly served within the New York State library and educational communities in a myriad of capacities, and enjoys well-earned respect and renown among her contemporaries. Michael Grafe brings a varied background to his current capacities of technical service provider, web site and professional development coordinator for Wallkill Schools. Military service, a tenure in the private business sector, and recent years working in the educational technology arena lend to his experience.

Contributions
Our local chapter will gladly accept new book donations or small monetary gifts, but we encourage benfactors to visit the donation page at our parent site. We always welcome assistance in the form of volunteer labor, storage facilities and transportation resources.

On behalf of Hudson Valley Books for Kids, Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Poughkeepsie sponsored a Holiday Book Drive.

Approximately 1700 new children's books were collected!

We offer our sincere thanks to all those who have donated, and to Mr. Charles DeSimone, Community Relations Manager at the Poughkeepsie Barnes & Noble.
